This is for the wonderful people of H.O.P.E. Dominican Republic
For their fighting spirits, for their overflowing grace, for their willingness to bear the cross daily.
…As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ.
2 Cor. 9:13
Our first month on the World Race brought team katafygio to the home of Ruben and Vicki Dominguez
Phase I…..go!
And while the rest of America handled bottle rockets and barbeque, 35 unqualified missionaires between the ages of 21 and 35 lined the stairs of a back yard/dominican jungle. Shovels for some, buckets of dirt for others, and cinderblocks for the rest. On the 4th of July, we built a bathroom. Showers, toilets, and floors. Doesn’t sound like mission work?….. It does when you have 100 + dominican teenagers showing up for bible camp the next day…. Phase 1 meant trusting others, others who you knew were in love with God. For Worldracers that follow, you must trust these people because they are in love with God, and that is all you need to remember.
Phase II…..time to fight!
This part is for all you men out there, you boys who want to be men, and all you women praying for the boys and men in your life.
>>>>In Gods corner, Standing 5 feet and 8 inches high and weighing in with a heart bigger than he is, I give you Brando.
Many kids and many counselors came to camp but this young man meant more to me than some. God used a practical joke to bring Brando into my life. My first thought was “retaliate, and teach this kid a lesson” Then God stepped in and showed me something, “Brandon had missed his launch.” That launch that many of us men have to remember each morning. That launch when we decide to give up our life and live for God and his children rather than ourselves.
I taught Brando a lot of things last week, but God taught me something even more important.
>>>>you don’t just become a man one day and then not ever be a boy again. No…. you make that decision daily to give up your life to be a man of God.
……I don’t deserve to be called Man of God everyday….but im not a boy as much I used to be.
Phase III
CITY OF A HUNDRED FIRES……translation (Cien Fuegos)
But first,,, mental picture time!! > 25 little ninos jumping up and down chanting and fist pumping…..
Quienes somos? ESPERANZA!!!!! Quienes somos!!!!! ESPERANZA!!!!!
(WHO ARE WE? HOPE! WHO ARE WE? HOPE!)
These are the faces of the children of Cien Fuegos.. The children who grew up in card board boxes and slept on dirt floors.

But that was then, and this is now. And now is when HOPE DR owns an English school and the brightest corner in the neighborhood. The streets are paved and around every corner you find concrete mixing with gravel to replace cardboard with mortar.
The light is winnnig and HOPE DR is burning brightly!
Dear Father, Thank you so much for giving me this month to fight for love along the side of Ruben, Vicki, Star, Ruben Jr., Kristin, Solimar, Jaklyn, Solainy, Ysabel, Amaure, Elle, Kristin, Michelle, Sam, Gill, Jose, Josue, Selina, Josiah, Blanco, David, Nercida”Ma-ma”, Manuel, Audi, and Amanda.
Donde hay Esperanza, hay es vida.
thank you for fighting fire with fire.
