I’m blown away at how beautiful Haiti is. You can see the mountains and ocean in one view. As beautiful as it is, it is very broken. Kids get one meal a day, maybe. We get asked if we have children after we tell them we are not married. It’s common here to have children outside of marriage with multiple people. It has created a fatherless and sometimes motherless generation. One precious child’s name is Judett. I don’t know much about her other than she is 5 years old (she thinks), has two older sisters, and lives in the village of Turpin. Oh, and she captured my heart. 🙂 I was blessed to show her the love of our Father two days in a row by simply playing with her, carrying her around, feeding her and praying over her. It was in praying over her that I saw Jesus the most. Holding her on my hip and praying blessings over her in a language she knew nothing about I saw curiosity in her deep brown eyes, but also a peace from our Father. Father I pray that Your liquid love would wash over and through her every day, that she would know You deeply and intimately, that You would grow her in wisdom and strength to be a great Christ centered mother to this nation.
To see the joy the kids have here with literally nothing shows me where the real joy comes from. There’s a song that goes “clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth.” I love the song except for that one line. Happiness is not the truth, but the truth can bring you true happiness. ‘Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”‘ (John 14:6) The happiness I’m talking about is the pure joy of knowing that you are fully loved by your Father in Heaven because of what Jesus has done for you on the Cross of Calvary. It’s one thing to say you believe in God, it’s something totally different to ask God to make His home in you through Jesus Christ. I once wanted nothing to do with Christ, but I now know from experience that by stepping out in faith to receive the right standing Jesus has with our Father, instead of holding onto my sins; I now cling to the Father and am so filed with His peace, love, and joy that nothing else matters. So my question to you is, if you have never experienced that before, why not experience His love for you now? You’re at the cross roads now.
