We drive at night into the bush of Zambia. All of us in the open bed of a truck watching God’s lightning show off in the distance as His stars shimmer their own language of awe and wonder. We turn off the main road and quickly our speed slows. Trees glow as the headlights pass. We see fire. The woods have been set ablaze to help the seeds grow in preparation for rainy season. We begin to see thatched roofs and the outline of mud brick homes. We are here. This is Africa. The lead pastor greets us and we set up our tents under a canopy of endless stars. A shooting star. The outline of an African tree next to a mud hut. I try to take it all in, but I can’t. There is too much awe, too much wonder. He is wonderful. He is full of wonder. I will never forget that night.

He took him outside and said, “Look up at the heavens and count the stars – if indeed you can count them.” Then He said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness.  -Genesis 15:5-6
