***Disclaimer: In this blog, I am going to take one of my real-life experiences and make a cheesy analogy out of it in order to make it spiritual.
This past weekend I had the opportunity to go kayaking down a river in Mississippi with some great friends, one of them is going on the World Race Route 3! On this river, were four different spots of small waterfalls. As I began to paddle on the river, I started to hear the first waterfall. I couldn’t see it yet, but I could hear it.
I wasn’t scared to go down the falls. The problem, was that I couldn’t see what part was going to be better to go down, and I could never see the bottom until it was too late. So, I would back-paddle as hard as I could to slown down so if I was in a bad spot to go down, I might still have time to move to the right spot. This is how it was at all four waterfalls. And after going down all of them, I would turn around and realize that I could have gone down at any part, and it would have been a lot more fun if I hadn’t slowed myself down.
This is what my journey has been like in anticipation and planning for the World Race. I get super pumped and excited about everything, and then I start thinking about that first waterfall: money. It seems to be going great, and then I start thinking about how much money I have to raise, and I suddenly find myself starting to back-paddle. I get really stressed out, especially because I hate asking people for money! Hate it! But I’m starting to realize that in order for this adventure to happen, and to bring God the most glory, I just have to GO FOR IT! This is for God. He’s called me, He will take care of me.
So, without beating around the bush, I need your money! I mean come on, what better of an investment can you make than in the spreading of the Gospel? Seriously, consider supporting me! Even if it’s only a one-time donation of $20, or a monthly donation of $15. All I need is 100 people to support me at $15 for 11 months! That’s two meals eating out!
I know, it’s awkard to ask for money, and it’s awkard getting asked for money. But it’s for Jesus, so it’s okay!
Be awkward for Jesus!
