Let’s get this thing started!!!!
With all of the support through family, friends, online and through the church family, I am pleased to announce that we have passed the first benchmark for donations!!
This vision is becoming more and more clear with each passing day. What once seemed like an impractical dream is quickly becoming a very immediate reality. As people close to me speak words of encouragement:
“I believe in you.”
“You’re goin’ to do good for the whole world.”
“You have such a wonderful heart; I want you to go and be successful.”
“You’re gonna do so many amazing things for so many people.”
I am beginning to come to another realization about the World Race altogether: I must live up to it.
The World Race is not a mission trip. It is not a spiritual exploration. It is an incredible testament of faith. It is innumerable people expressing trust with their donations. It is a chorus of vocalists harmonizing to sound a song of pleasant comfort to those who are suffering. It is a marathon of runners who gather for one unified purpose: to show love to the world, no matter the distance that must be reached.
The foundation of the World Race is in the group of faceless participants who never see another country. Its spirit lives in the prayers and support from everyone at home. Its strength is embodied by coaches who empower volunteers to go beyond their comfort zone. Those of us standing at the starting line, we are just lucky enough to be its body.
So, I make a solemn pledge. I will not accept donations for a personal vacation. I will not accept prayers for my individual well-being.
I will forget myself. I will lose myself. I will become a simple conduit that transmits these generous offerings to where they need to be: to the communities who need construction, to the lives who need healing, to the hearts who need comfort, and to the souls longing for peace.
