Mingalaba (Hello)!
Happy New Year Myanmar style! The arrival of 2018 has brought many new and exciting things!
At the end of 2017, we had our first team change! I am now on a team with 6 other ladies for the rest of our trip and am loving every minute of it so far.
We just wrapped up our last month in Asia and are now in Africa for the next 3 months! I’m still trying to figure out how the time went by so fast!
Here’s a quick recap of my last couple months on the World Race since my last update:
Month 5 – Thailand (December)
This month has been one of my most favourites so far! After a squad debrief in Bangkok, my team and I arrived to Chiang Mai, where we worked with our host Kendall Cobb from ActsCo BookHouse for the month. Everyday, we travelled outside the city limit to a small piece of property where we sorted through and organized material stored in four large shipping containers. The materials included: bibles, literature, and children and adults Sunday School program resources. The best part about it? Everything was FREE and ALL Christian! This meant that thousands of Thai people had easy, affordable access to the Gospel! Our job was to go through each box, sort the materials and then re-stack them back in the shipping containers according to what type of material it was.
We also had the awesome opportunity to live with a team from the World Race Gap Year program, a couple teams from YWAM AND another team from our own squad! We loved being able to visit with them, celebrate Christmas with them and pour into them as much as they poured into us.

Month 6 – Myanmar (January 2018)
We kicked off 2018 and the last half of our Race by serving in Yangon this month, teaching English at New Life Yangon with our host Teacher Richard Mang. Classes were held multiple times throughout the week for adults wanting to learn english. Students were always eager to learn which made it a huge joy to be around them and help them learn! Our team also handed out flyers throughout the week for these classes and went to a local park a couple times a week to sing worship songs and interact with the locals.

What is World Race Gap Year?
The Gap Year program is essentially the same trip as the World Race 11 in 11 trip with the same vision and values. The only differences are, Gap Year is for young adults aged 18-21. These young men and women go to 3 Continents in 9 months, usually staying in each country for 2 months at a time instead of 1 month. The World Race believes it is important for young adults to take an intentional year off from school to seek out where God may be propelling them to next and has set this trip up for young adults for this reason.
Where are you now?
For the month of February we are headed to Lesotho, Africa! Lesotho will be our first stop of 3 African countries. We will be staying in the village of Malealea with another team from our squad. While there, we will be working with Africa 4 Jesus and our ministry host Pieter Mierke.
