Our mission in Targu Mures, Romania is a simple one. Here we are street evangelists. Today we went out to the park where Rachel and I decided that if God really wanted us to speak to someone that they would come up to us, so we sat on a park bench. As we were sitting there we spotted a young girl and as I waved she looked at me as if I had four extra arms and then ran away. The people here have been so hard to get past their perceptions of strangers that when we say “hello” or “seeyo” (In Hungarian) they just stare at us as if we have just offended them.
So starting today’s evangelism in the park I was so skeptical that God could talk to people in this way. Why would these people who don’t speak English or who really don’t like foreigners want to talk to us about God? So Rachel and I were sitting there thinking about life in general and the little girl comes over followed by an older boy (we are still not sure of the relationship there) this time they say hello in English so we start talking in English and find out that that was pretty much the only word in English that they spoke.

So meet Stast Jonos Csobi. He is 23 and he was a runner in the 2000 Olympics where he came second. He was sponsored by a couple in the United States of America who were out getting money when they were killed in the September 11 terrorist attack. So his income was all of a sudden cut off. He was so sad about this, he was about to break out crying, but hanging off his arm was 10 year old Anna and he stood strong for her.
Stast asked us to pray for his situation as he has been living on the streets since he has no income and no one to sponsor his running. We gave him a New Testament bible in Romanian when he was asking some questions about God.
