Have you ever seen the movie “Elf”? There is a part in there when Elf comes home after a date with the girl twirling around and sighing ” I’m in love, I’m in love!” … Well that’s how I feel.

Could you ever imagine that where ever you go could fall in love? No matter where I am, or what is surrounding me, it is never the stuff, the location, or even the nature, it’s always about the people. When I fall in love with a country, it’s the people that I have fallen for.

Here we are in the Philippines. It is absolutely wonderful! We are living at a children’s home, sharing life with 25 children and loving them as much as we can.

In Malaysia, someone once told my group that you should always pray and ask God what he is doing in that place so that you can follow along His path. I prayed that this month and asked God what I could be doing and the response was “LOVE”. It was that simple. God wanted me to be His hands and feet this month by loving those around me, by loving the children, the workers and most of all Him.

I have found my time here so far has been filled with days in the baby room, loving three beautiful babies. There is Hannah, who was only 10 days old when we arrived here, Ian who is a chubby little 6-month old, and Caleb who has won my heart.

Baby Caleb is one of the most precious little baby’s here. He is one year old, but is so small he can fit a 6 month old’s clothing. Caleb was born 2 months early and appears to be showing signs of Cerebral Palsy. His muscles and bones are growing very slowly and his joints are all stiff. We work out with him by moving around his arms and legs, help him hold up his neck and show his how to hold a bottle.

He is developing very slowly but since we have been here we are watching in amazement as God shows us miracles day after day. When we first arrived just 10 days ago Caleb couldn’t really hold up his own head, now he does most of the time. He has started rolling over, he has started reaching out for things with his hands. One of Caleb’s arms is not as mobile as the other one so we are praying for strength and movement to come and it has been! He is slowly starting to use it more.

Being here I am seeing so much about loving the ones who don’t feel loved. God has called people to reach out to the orphans. There are so many children around this world that don’t have parents, and our job is to take care of those little ones. The work is plentiful but the workers are few. If you have been called to take care of orphans, or you have a desire to spend a week, a month or even a year with little ones, there are plenty of places wanting YOU! You are so needed. Come and be the worker, there are little ones who just want and need love and that is something all of us have plenty to give.
