A few days ago, a couple of us were able to go to a hospital that was just going to be a visit to drop off clothing and some chairs and tables but it turned into so much more…

As we arrived at the hospital we were greeted by some people Amy and Jared had prayed for the day before. They were all so happy to see us, we were kissed and hugged by everyone. I sort of forgot we were at a hospital because we were surrounded by so many old people, it felt more like we were at a nursing home. It wasn’t until we started taking the clothing and chairs inside. There were a ton of boxes filled with big winter coats, skirts, blouses, trousers and pajamas and then we had some toilet wheeling chair and some tables. We piled them into the staffroom and just walking down the corridors the smell of ‘hospital’ suffocated the air. This hospital was not a big one and it looked old and bedraggled just like the people we met outside.

After about 10 minutes (enough time for the staff to go through the boxes) they decided they didnt want the clothing and maybe we could take it somewhere else, so we repiled it back into the van and one of the old men outside asked us if he could have a coat because it was starting to get cold and he had nothing to keep him warm. So we got that out for him, which then a couple of other items were requested by other patients walking around outside. All of a sudden we were surrounded by 20 people who needed some clothing article, so we gave and gave until the van was empty but a couple of skirts and one very small coat.

As we were walking away a lady and her elderly mother walked up. They said they heard the commotion down stairs and because the elderly woman couldn’t get down the stairs, they couldn’t get here fast enough. “We just need a coat” she said. The elderly woman was very small and frail and I was amazed that any clothing was left and astounded that the perfect coat for her was left. So I said we had saved her the perfect coat. She tried it on and praise be to God it was her exact size.

There was one other woman just behind this couple and she was again very small and I felt terrible that we had nothing for her so I had a quick look in the back of the van to check if there was anything that might have gotten missed and sure enough there was this tiny woolen skirt which of course was her size. God just worked miracles on this day!

I felt like I was His love this day. I felt like I was doing His work. I felt God!
