If you have read the blog you might have somewhat of an idea about the situation where we are staying at Mama Rita’s. Mama Rita’s family and all of Mozambique speak Portugese, which makes it really hard to communicate. Our hope is that more World Race teams and other missionaries will continue to come to their home and eventually the orphanage of Mama Rita.
As we have been staying here I have learned that two of the older boys, Jona and Emanuel, are very interested in learning English. As I started thinking about it, I realized that by them learning English it would greatly help to further the ministry in the future. It would help them to get jobs (which without further education are virtually impossible to come by) that would serve the orphanage and their families financially. There is also a possibility that by learning English they will be able to help many more missionaries come into this part of Mozambique.
As I talked to our contact Peter, I learned that it only costs $300 for a whole year to learn English, which for the two of them would be $600. Just thinking about that gets me very excited to think of the impact that would have on their lives!
Will you please pray right now about possibly giving some money this week for these two young men to be educated. The schooling starts in July and I leave here next week so I would love to know that people would be willing to financially support them really soon.
If you are interested in supporting Jona and Emanuel in learning English do two things, email me at [email protected] and tell me how much you would like to give (this is really important so that I can upfront the money while I am still in Mozambique) and then send the money to my home address (or give it to my parents) at 30680 Olypmus Bulverde, TX 78163.
Thanks for all of your support!
