All of us have a story. We have a timeline of events which makes up this thing we call life. Some of us would like to forget some of those past events, and others often wonder how time has slipped by so quickly and seemingly unnoticed. Last night my great uncle Don Stiller began the unending chapter of his life known as eternity.
Don was born in 1924 in a small town in Wisconsin, known as Little Suamico. His story was anything but normal, Don spent his life as a commercial fisherman and also a duck hunting guide in the Green Bay area. Through the years Don was able to share his life and passion for hunting and fishing with a multitude of people. Its strange, but its not until someone passes that you can look back and see the impact that that persons life had on the world.
Don never was a man who had a lot as far as the worlds standards, however he had many rich relationships and experiences in Gods creation. We didn't expect Don to pass last night, my dad was visiting with him just hours before he went. I guess we just don't know when our last day on this earth will be, in fact it could be today, there are no guarantees. In the book of James God says “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while then vanishes.” We have to make the most of every opportunity for each day is a gift from God.
All of us have a story. We cant go back and change the story that we have written this far, however today God gives us the opportunity to join in with his story. My great uncle made an impact on more lives than I know, and each day we impact those we encounter. Are you writing your story for God’s glory? Our life is truly like a mist that is here one moment and disappears with the rising sun. My great uncle will be missed, his great stories and life experiences will live on though his books and his family. Today he is in the very presence of God and soon we will be there too. God I pray you write my story, and I pray those who read this will Joyfully submit their lives to your authorship, for our God is the Author of life itself.
