What is you first reaction to a mosquito? A simple question, but lately this has brought a lot of clarity to my life! It might sound funny but stick with me on this one, apply what you read, and watch as your life becomes more like Christ!
Ok so what the heck am I talking about? Here in India there is an abundance of mosquitoes, their different than the ones back home, but theres a bunch of em. Each night as soon as it gets dark they seem to slip in and begin their assault on my ankles. If their lucky enough to actually bite me they cant cause any real harm, but man they make me itch!
So back to my first question. What is your first reaction to a mosquito? I can tell you what mine is! At the very sound of those little buggers my hands are flying and stuff is dying. In fact I don't even wait for them to come to me, I go after them! I might even douse myself with deet and arm myself before they even come out. I get prepared. So as this nightly battle was commencing this thought came in to my mind, and to me this is profound and funny.
I need to view the lies from the devil, and the things in my mind that are not from God just like I view these buzzing little monstrosities.
I mean think about it this is so profound. God calls me his son, bride, chosen one, beloved, friend, and so much more, but so often I let these truths fall to some stupid lie. God tells me Im holy and blameless, Satan says I'm dirty. God says he is pleased in me because of Jesus, and Satan says he's mad and disappointed with who I am. And to be honest I'm just done listening. I have taken up a new battle plan and its search and destroy. No longer am I waiting for the lies to come after me Im going after them!
In Leviticus 17:11 God tells us that life is in the blood. Just like a mosquito seeks to sip a bit of life from us, the fiery arrows of satan seek to take the life from us! Believe me if your a Christian satan wants you dead. Since God will not allow him to do that to you he wants to do the next best thing, make you ineffective. Satan is looking for footholds in each of our lives. Places where we let down our guard just enough, or places that we really don't think are important to take care of. Its these little compromises in our lives that allow him to begin climbing. Its the careless word spoken to a friend, the lust of our eyes for the things of this world, the selfish decisions that we justify in our minds, or believing something is true about yourself even though the Bible say the exact opposite. Its these places that allow him to have a hold.
It makes sense to me why mosquitoes only come out in the dark, in the light they are an easy target. I mean if you can see the thing its only a flick of the wrist and that little bug is a mess. Its the same thing with the lies of Satan, in the light they stick out like a sore thumb. In Psalm 119:105 God says his word is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path. His word is shaper than a double edged sword. His word is a weapon! The more truth we have in our lives the easier it will be to disarm the lies of satan. GET IN THE WORD!
I guess the point of this blog is this, satan came to kill steal and destroy and Jesus came to give life to the full. I want all of you to live life to the full. I want to have life to the full and to be honest I don't often walk in the fullness God gives. So what is the lie your believing? What is that thing that you know is not form God that you are allowing to have hold in your life? Stress, doubt, fear, lust, pride, self condemnation, selfishness, bitterness, unforgiveness, the list could go on and on. Im telling you freedom is seriously one slap away! the word says that the power of life and death is in the tongue and I believe we need to start calling these lies out. Start speaking truth to the lie. Speak truth about who you are. Turn the lights on bright in your life and these lies will fall dead!
This is where I have been the past few months. I wrote 4 blogs before this and none of them made it up, I was lied to that i didn't have anything to say. Im done submitting to these accusations and Im onto slapping them. Im not going to allow a little bug to suck the life from me and Im not going to let these puny little lies do it either. Stand firm friends. Heaven is real, Jesus is the truth, and there is an eternal reward that far outweighs the little trials we face here. Mosquitoes suck and so do lies so smack em and flick their mangled bodies back to where they belong! Gods abundance in all of your lives! Love Patrick!
