So its almost surreal that I am leaving to go to 11 different countries to love people and share with them the hope of Jesus. I just said goodbye to the two most influential people in my life a few minutes ago, my parents. God has been speaking to me about loving people as of late. To be completely honest I am often so afraid to really love people, to really give them my heart because i am so insecure and sacred of getting hurt.
I will miss these two more than I know! My Mom and Dad. Thanks for being such a blessing to me, I wouldent be going wthout all of your love and encouragement!
I have been reading a book called Abba’s Child and in it the author Brennan Manning says, “The soul has to be wounded as well as the body. To think that the natural and proper state is to be without wounds is an illusion. Those who wear bulletproof vests protecting themselves from failure, shipwreck, and heartbreak will never know what love is. The unwounded life bears no resemblance to the Rabbi.”
On this trip my vision for my team and for myself is to learn how to really love. I want my team and I to fall desperately, head over heels in love with Jesus, because by doing so we will love the people around us the way that He desires. The verse in John chapter 15 stands out in my mind when it says that if we abide in him we will bear much fruit and apart from him we can do nothing. This year is about abiding.
Anyway I feel like a am all over the place with this update, but tomorrow I will be on a plane to Florida, then on the 13th my team and I will be in El Salvador. Saying goodbye has been tough but I know I am walking into one of the most amazing opportunities thus far in my life. I am still in need of about $5,000 in support until i am fully funded! Please pray that we could develop a team structure that allows for my teammates and I to really get to know Jesus, and also pray for the people of El Salvador that they would feel his love through us!
