A little over a year ago I was training for a different ultra marathon and I got hurt.
Its funny how past injuries seem to hang around and then manifest themselves at inopportune times. Last week I began to feel a slight ache in the top of my right foot, and thoughts of injury began to occupy my mind.
“I don’t want to get hurt again,” I thought to myself, “I want to run.”
Just the thought of my injury has changed the way I run, and in a way it might actually be the cause of me getting hurt again.

This ties in so tightly with our lives, doesn’t it? The injuries of our past often influence the actions of our future, and in a way open us up to more hurt because we are still living in a broken state. We still believe there is something in need of fixing.
What if we are healed?
What if healing is not so much a long drawn out process, but simply a new mindset? A mind obsessed with the truth. A mind with a relentless passion for living in the new not the old.
When we live in our brokenness it changes our stride. It opens us up to worry that the same thing that happened in the past is going to happen again, and then we try to protect ourselves.
The thing is we really can’t protect ourselves. We can’t stop life from coming at us. We can only entrust ourselves to the one who protects us, Jesus.
It’s in trust that we find freedom from the past. Its in trust we find freedom from the future. Its in trust that we believe that we really are new, we are no longer broken; we are fully alive and fully accepted in Christ.
Do you believe you are healed, or are there still some things in need of work? Do you feel God is pleased with you right now, just as you are?
We will be growing and changing all of our lives, sanctification is a process; however living with a nagging suspicion that you just don’t measure up is not the life to the full Jesus promises.
I will just say it, “You are healed.” You might hurt, but at the core of who you are Jesus declares you are mine, you are new, and you are free.
Will you stop running as though your next step is sure to break you, and begin to live in the gift; the free redemption bought with the blood of God? This is the life God desires for you, this is the life you were made for!
For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. Hebrews 10:14
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17
