Dear Family and Friends,
I am very excited to share with you my acceptance into a gap year program sponsored by Adventures in Missions called “The World Race.” Over the past few years, my walk with Christ has deepened, and I feel God leading me to work in short term missions before I start college. My whole life has revolved around the comfort and security we are blessed with here in the United States, but God has given me a deep desire to step out and do more for others around the world.
The World Race is a 9-month gap year program for high school graduates traveling to 3 different countries and spending 3 months in each area. Beginning in September, my World Race team will travel to Guatemala, Malaysia, and Botswana where we will partner with local ministries to plant churches, work in orphanages, assist women and children involved in human trafficking, as well as share the love and hope of Jesus Christ to the needy.
I will face many challenges on the mission field while living out of a backpack, but I have great faith that God will carry me through. In addition, one of my greatest challenges will be raising the financial support needed to accomplish this call. World Race participants are required to raise financial support to cover the expenses of the trip. I will need to raise a total of $12,500. My financial deadlines are: $6,000 due 5/22/2015, $9,000 due 7/02/2015, and $12,500 due 8/21/2015.
As I continue to work and save money, I am reaching out to friends and family to ask that you partner with me in two ways. The first way you can partner with me is by committing to pray for my team throughout the coming months. Secondly, I would be greatly honored if you would prayerfully consider partnering with me financially. Donations can be made using the enclosed card. However, the easiest way to donate is to go to my blog at parkerquinlan.theworldrace.org. My blog allows you to support me financially, as well as get updates on my journey and prayer needs. The amount seems huge, but if just 10 people contributed $100 a month for one year, I would be extremely close to reaching my total goal. Or, if just 30 people gave a one-time donation of $200 each, I would have the funds needed to meet my first financial deadline. Some of you may have been blessed financially this year and may be able to give more, while some may not be able to do quite as much, but be assured that every little bit helps. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of partnering with me.
Sincerely,
Parker Quinlan
