For our first week in Cambodia we were able to spend 3 days at Good Shepherd Orphanage. I absolutely loved being able to spend time with these precious kids. Due to a language barrier, all of our time was spent outside playing games, singing songs, doing relays, and even playing some basketball (yay). It seriously felt like I was 7 years old again. We would wake up, go to the orphanage and play for a couple hours, come home for lunch and a quick nap, then go back in the afternoon and play some more before returning home for dinner. Here are some pictures from our time there:

Here is our morning group playing a game in which the boys sit in a circle linking arms while the girls try to pull them apart

My greatest tactic for this game is to tickle them…

This is my favorite little boy from the morning group. He always seemed to find me and would cling to me in some way. I love affectionate children.

The kids loved relays. We would blindfold them and have them race across the ‘yard’ to grab our nalgenes.

For some reason, a bunch of the kids there rode unicycles. They were actually quite impressive and so naturally, Dan had to give it a try. He is now a part of their unicycle gang.

This adorable little boy had a hard time warming up to us. He never let us pick him up and would usually turn away when we approached him. But, our last afternoon there I caught him behind a post trying on my sunglasses. Who would have thought that giant sunglasses would break the barrier?
