"Forty?" I asked. "Really?" I looked down at what I was buying, shrugged my shoulders, and put forty on the counter. The man smiled and ran his fingers through his beard as he boldly continued.
"I saw you pull money out of your pocket," he said. "I'd like all the money from your pockets."
"Are you being serious?" I asked. The guy nodded, and I looked at the line forming behind me. I was definitely planning on using that money down the road, but…I also really wanted that stuff I was buying. So I rolled my eyes and pulled out everything that I had in my pockets, and paid like a thousand bucks. The shop keeper took my money and rolled it up in his hand. Then he walked over to me and said, "That's what I want."
"You want…what?" I asked.
"Your purse," he replied.
"I don't think so," I replied. "Did you seriously just ask for my purse?!" I looked at my purchase and said, "Alright; then I can't afford this."
"Are you sure?" the man asked me. "It's definitely worth it."
"You keep bringing up the price!" I complained.
"I'm sorry," the guy said, "but I'm just telling you what it costs."
"I don't have much of anything in here, you know," I said. "Look! You have my thousand in your hands!"
"I know," he said. I looked at my I.D.
"I can keep this, right?" I asked.
"If it was in your purse," he explained, "then I want it. Do you think it's worth it?"
"Yeah," I replied. "I mean, I hope so. Someone told me that it is."
"Well what do you think?" he asked simply. I sighed and opened up my hands. I turned out my pockets.
"I've counted up the cost," I said, "and You are worth it, Lord."
