after traveling through the villages of banan the past few days, i have delightedly discovered the presence and effects of world vision throughout this area. we were visiting a home cell group with many children present when i observed several of them wearing shirts with this organization’s bright orange logo. i was suddenly struck – these are the faces of those children we see in the brochures and commercials back in the states, the faces of poverty and hopelessness that world vision so hopes to eradicate. i also visited a primary school which is sponsored by world vision and had the great privilege of meeting and talking with some of the children. i can assure you, this program is working.
i have sponsored two children from africa for many years and while i have loved receiving bits and pieces of news about their lives, it is altogether very different and special to glimpse firsthand how a child and family, or even a village, is positively changed by one’s donation – thirty dollars a month, mere pennies to most americans, a chance for a healthier life for many. and more, the vast love of Christ is at the heart of this program. please check them out, www.worldvision.org, and consider how you may contribute to changing a child’s life.
