Dear Friends & Family,
As most of you may know, since returning from a two-week medical mission trip to
Kenya
in 2003, I have had the strong desire to return to the mission field for a lengthier period of time. While in
Kenya
my team partnered with Adventures in Missions (AIM) and amazingly, God has lead me to be a participant in their World Race program in September 2007.
The World Race is an exciting year-long opportunity where teams of 5-6 individuals travel to 11 countries in 11 months, radically abandoning everything for the work of God. We will collaborate with both AIM and local ministries in each country sharing the hope and vast love of Christ, while serving in a variety of ways: working with orphans and the homeless, assisting those affected by natural disasters, building community through discipleship, evangelism and church planting, volunteering in hospitals and schools – really, just living with and loving others as Christ modeled.
AIM’s vision is for those willing to follow God’s call in fulfilling the great commission through discipleship, prayer and building community with the poor, being fully dependent on God, and living an abundant life that bears fruit. I have been thinking a lot about what it really means to unconditionally give of your self to others in ways that will have a lasting impact on lives and communities. At the same time, God has been teaching me about being totally surrendered to Him (ouch!) and I believe this ministry will allow me to continue my incredible journey of letting Christ fully lead my life as I serve Him. I yearn to be an agent of change in the lives of the impoverished.
As you can imagine, we will require tremendous support on this endeavor. I would consider it a great honor if you would be willing to partner prayerfully and financially with me in this ministry. Prayer will be crucial to our success and I am asking for ten individuals to commit to a dedicated time of prayer for us at least once a week. Each team member is asked to raise a minimum of $13,000, or $1080 a month, prior to September to cover travel, food, and housing. Our intent is to live simply among the people in the different cultures we visit. If five people pledged $100.00 each month, five people pledged $50.00, ten pledged $20.00 and ten $15.00, I would meet my goal. Please prayerfully consider collaborating with me. Together we can work His will in the lives of many. I have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope, which invites you to share in this ministry with a one time donation or monthly contribution.
Please make checks payable to Adventures in Missions. You may write “appealed by” and my name in the memo section of the check if you wish. I am so excited to be a part of this mission and to see all the ways God will work in and through you and me during this adventure.
