early tomorrow morning my team and i will set off on a 5-6 hour journey to banan, our next ministry site. here is some info:
Cambodian Pastor Sokhon is the leader of this Four Square Church and orphanage. He and his family help to care for more than 30 orphans. They all live together at the church facility and they help to teach and train the children in the truth and love of God. God has been leading them to reach out to their local village/community through evangelism, discipleship, and caring for the people. Teams can help by teaching the children in the orphanage about the Bible, English, arts/crafts, dancing, singing, etc. The church is located on a farm that teams can help maintain. Also, teams can help to lead the church services that are in the church and in the nearby villages. This is a great opportunity to encourage and disciple the people in God’s ways. There are 3 orphanages in the area within 30 minutes of each other. There are currently 42 kids there, ages 8-18. The church is located in the same building as the orphanage, and teams can hook up with cell groups with the church, help with services, and do neighborhood evangelism.
we are excited as well as a bit uncertain, okay nervous, about the lack of amenities (see christie’s blog, http://christiealbaugh.theworldrace.org/index.asp?filename=team-blog-2). we anticipate being stretched personally and as a team, but are ‘counting it all joy’. i believe we all just want to be in God’s will and will lay down ourselves for His purposes. we each feel that we will require a great covering in prayer so i am asking that you commit to praying for us daily. all for His glory!
