tuol sleng – a former high school converted by the khmer rouge into a torture prision called s-21. over 10,000 men, women, and children, sometimes entire families, were imprisoned and tortured here. only 7 of the original 10,000 prisoners survived. one third of the cambodian population was murdered during the reign of the khmer rouge.

there is a definitive spirit of anguish here, the cries of terror and suffering follows your every step. the juxtaposition of the haunting memories of horror and cruelty set amidst the beautiful grounds is stunning.

cheung eik, or the killing fields, is the mass burial grounds where the s-21 prisoners were killed. to date, over 9,000 men, women, and children have been found buried at this site.

only a spirit of the purest, highest evil could have perpetuated such atrocities upon our fellow human beings.

Jesus is the light of the world.

only His spirit of purest, highest love and truth will heal the cambodians and their land.
