hey! so I have just a few days left in Thailand, and one month left on the world race. the feeling of bittersweet grows more overwhelming everyday. savoring every moment of this next month. we finished up ministry at Agape Home, and I am so grateful for the 2 months of sweet, Loving Kindness I experienced there. I have yet to meet people so passionate about a place, yet so rooted in humility. I left with a newfound perspective on what is truly looks like to know God as my Father.

during my time in Thailand, Avery (my best friend, if you don’t know she is by now,,,, you should) and I have picked up songwriting! we have had the best time messing around with the guitar and spitting whatever lyrics pop into our mind. our spontaneous worship sessions have been so Spirit filled, and have deepened my Love for worship.

Avery’s best friend, and our future roommate, Marilyn recently wrote a really beautiful poem.

you can check it out here: https://averyandmarilyn.wordpress.com/2019/04/23/peculiar/

I’m going to refrain from explaining exactly what the poem means to me, because it is wide open to interpretation and I don’t want to taint your interpretation of it. to put it simply, the poem leads me back to Matthew 6: 25-30 (NIV):

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you-you of little faith?”

The Lord has been teaching me what it means to be a leaf in His wind, being blown around with careless ease, fully confident in the One who guides me. not trying for anything, not tirelessly sprinting towards His Love, but simply falling into it gently, letting it envelop every part of me.

so, upon reading this poem, Avery and I were inspired to write a song! we wrote it in about an hour, then decided to record it, then took that first recording and posted it on Soundcloud!

so here it is: https://m.soundcloud.com/user-540049436/eternal-sunshine

the title of the song is “eternal sunshine!”, and yes it is loosely inspired by the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, starring one of the greatest men living today, Jim Carrey

((sidenote, me, Avery, and some of our other squad mates started a Film Club and are working on watching and compiling a list of the greatest movies ever made, leave your favorite movies in the comments pls))

here are the lyrics to our song:

“eternal sunshine!”

sun warms the blooming flowers

daffodils and dandelions

dancing in the gentle breezes

swaying with the changing seasons

gazing on their fragile beauty

she reveals all of her glory

sustained by her sweet rays

they worry for nothing

they don’t have to even pray

she shines forever

very still, very still, very still

very still, very still, very still

very still, very still, very still

please give it listen and let me know how you interpret it! I really hope you enjoy it. you can expect many more songs from us in the future.

love you, thank you for reading my blog!
