Something God has been teaching me lately is that opportunity is hidden in ordinary day-to-day life.
I want to tell you about my last day in Botswana. After we were done packing up, a couple of us girls walked over to our neighbors house to buy some mangos. The man who owns the property, TD, wasn’t there, but his family was. One of his daughters brought us into the shop and we started picking out mangos. She was super generous and gave us all more mangos than we paid for. Afterward, I asked if we could pray over her before we left. She said yes, grabbbed some chairs for us and brought us outside. Her family was visiting for the new year and she gathered all of them to meet us. As we sat together, the language barrier wasn’t a hindrance. The children climbed all over us, and a few girls that we met on the way over danced for us while we sang. It was sweet- simple. Then we prayed over the family. We prayed for rain. We prayed for the young students. We prayed for healing for sickness. We prayed for purpose and life. When I opened my eyes, I saw TD’s wife had tears in her eyes. I could tell she was touched. Kaylee, TD’s daughter, and her cousin walked us to the street. I felt joy- the same joy that I saw on their faces. And this all happened because of mangos. See, God works in the ordinary. Opportunity is all around us- EVEN in the ordinary, small things. We just need to recognize when it is right before our eyes. God knew Kaylee and her whole family would be there that day. Maybe He brought them just for that reason- I don’t know. Maybe He brought us to Botswana for that one day we got mangos. God works in mysterious ways. I pray for Kaylee and her father TD and his family. May God bless them and keep them. May His face shine upon them. And give them peace, forever. Amen.
