Since being on the race and being in constant community understanding health has been really valuable to me. Being with people all the time that are different then me has been really hard, like really really hard. Some thing that makes this better for me is learning about different people. In the last couple months I have really gotten in to the enneagram. Everyone thinks I am obsessed but guys don’t worry I am not. Also yes I know that we are a little late to the trend but its hard to get enough wifi to do anything like this on the race.
The thing that I love about the enneagram is that you can learn about yourself in health and at your low point. When you are figuring it out at first it kinda makes you hate yourself a little. The more I learn the more I am excited to get to health.
The other day we had a teaching about health and the parts of the brain and what they all do. It is so cool to think of health as more then just your body but your mind. They can also be broken down into the Father, Son and Holy Spirit which is so cool to me.
Left Brain: is all about the mental, has controlled emotions, analytical, intellectual, all about safety and security. The enneagram numbers that are lead by the mind are five, six and seven. This is The Father full of knowledge and wisdom, has thought through the options and how it effects people and is full of new ideas.
Right Brain: is all about the spiritual, big feeler, holds the complex emotions, soulful, intuition, and creative and artisy. When your lead by your feeling the you make decisions and don’t think through all the possibilities. The enneagram numbers that go with this part are two, three and four. This is the Holy Spirit, the helper always looking for connection and love, successful with all authority and power and filled with deep compassion and love.
Brain Stem: is all about the physical, primitive instinct, survival emotions, physical experiences, all in the subconscious. The brain stem is the thing that moves you, makes you act and do. The enneagram numbers this one relates to are eight, nine and one. This one goes with The Son. He is in the action making things happen, he is also the peace maker bring people together and he cares about the one, the details.
Learning how I work and how other people work is very valuable to me. It helps us work together so much better. The thing we have to make sure of its that we don’t have pride in who we are. Some thing that he is showing me right now is that I walk in pride in my perspective and what I bring to the group. But to build a house you need all the people the visionary, the strategist, the builder and the operator. Each of these role function differently and think differently but you need all of for the complete best house.
