I was in Battambang, Cambodia for three weeks teaching, then I was in Siem Reap, Cambodia for five-ish days for debrief that was an amazing time of processing and fun. This Monday we had a 14 hour travel day from Siem Reap to Kampot, Cambodia. I have been looking forward to these next two months a lot because I am just with my team (7 other fellow homies races and Corbyn my team leader).
We have only been here for a couples days but I love it. Kampot is beautiful with sunsets, the freaking ocean (one hour away), mountains, rivers and lakes. Like wow can you even? We are living in this tiny village one hour away from town. We are living at a YWAM base that is lead by the coolest guys ever. I am so excited for the relationship I am going to make with my ministry hosts. Vuthy is 35 and was a tuk tuk diver who got saved and plugged into YWAM. He then came back to his village and started a church, school, coconut oil ministry and soccer ministry. He has been married for almost three years to the most beautiful and kind women and they have the cutest 5 month old ever. I am so excited to get to know them more and hear more of there hearts for God and this community.
In the mornings we will be doing home visits to people around the community. Then in afternoon some of us our teaching and some our doing manual labor. I am teaching a class of 8-12 year olds. Then in the evening teaching a class of 12-18 year olds really trying to teach them about who Jesus is and trying to keep them out of the drug culture of Cambodia.
I am really excited to teach and especially in a Christian environment. I can teach these kids about the power of the presence of Jesus and teach them that that power is in them. Also the teachers are apart of the ministry and I get to know them and give them a time of rest.
Being here in Kampot is a lot different then Battambang because I literally have no reason to leave our little land. I am very excited about the small village vibes. Really getting to know my ministry host and the locals around. God is going to do mighty things here with this ministry and my team. I am so thankful for what God has been teaching me already. Also how I get to spend more time with my team and love each other deeper and get to know each other better.
