Jesus brought me all the way to Ethiopia to teach me how to love my American peers. One of the reasons Ethiopia has been so hard for me has been loving my team. I am on a team with seven other girls and I love them each to death. But let me tell you its really hard. We all come from such different backgrounds and are all drastically different. I have learned so much about myself through all the girls.

For worship this Sunday we sat around the fire underneath the stars and wrote out all the hard things that we have walked through since being here in Ethiopia. As I wrote mine I realized a lot of it was about the people around me. The last couple months I have gotten really challenging feedback from them about how I present myself and love them.

I am so thankful for all these hard conversations I have had and all the frustrations I have been through because I have learned so much and am continuing to learn so much. I have been reading the book, Everybody Always but Bob Goff and it has been so convicting to me in this current season of my life (highly recommend). Realizing that is never about me but it about living life with people just as Jesus did. Also understanding that each person that is placed in front of me looks like Jesus but it about who we are becoming. It’s more then just what the people around me are doing but it’s about who they are. Its about coming along side the people that are hard to love and helping them get to where they are going.

I am so thankful for all that I have been learning so I can value people more and love them right where they are at. Right now I am learning how to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep. Jesus comes where we are at with no pride. Lets all try to do the same.

Live life WITH each other.
