WOW! What a past few days its been and it’s only the beginning!
The first thing I want to say is that God is good all the time, but sometimes the crazy moments of life distract me from all of that. Last Friday I sat myself down and typed up my support letter, which took roughly about 3 to 4 hours. Crazy right? Then me and mom started writing down names of friends and family who we were going to send them out to.
Tuesday, the 17th of September, the early routes came out for World Race Gap Year. I had to choose out of 5 routes and I ended up choosing Route 5, which will send me to Romania, India and Costa Rica. Now I am typing my first blog post and filling out my Supporter Tracking sheet which is a hassle but helps me keep up with my support team.
All of this has happened just within the past week. My work has really begun and this race has really started but this whole past week I have somewhat been in a daze. It was Friday morning driving to school that I paused for a second, thought about all that happened and really got excited about it. I asked the Lord for forgiveness and thanked him for all the amazing things he dad done. To explain, let me start over in more detail:
1). I had no idea what to write on my support letter. I stared at the screen for a long time but with prayer, my moms advice and other support letter examples I began to type and the Lord let it all flow.
2). Pastor Dave said last Sunday at church “Don’t underestimate the power of God to change you and others around you.” I don’t doubt God will change me over the next few months to grow closer to his heart as he has already begun doing just that but someone I love very much decided they did not want to support me for their own reasons and wouldn’t help getting friends addresses in another region. This saddened me very much however within the next DAY the Lord worked within this person. Questions were asked, details were clarified, and many addresses were sent my way by the one I love dearly to show support. I am so blessed to have a God that loves and cares so much.
3). Out of the 5 routes I didnt know which to choose. I knew God would use me in any one I did pick however I wanted this to be his decision not my own. I had my reasons for Route 5 but I wanted to be sure. Again God responded swiftly as both my mom, dad, and other friends also choose Route 5 for the same reasons I did. If that wasn’t an answer to my prayer, I don’t know what was.
4). Now, God is giving me peace. I worry and stress over things like work. I am a very organised person but blogging, keeping track of supporters, letters, emails, etc is way out of my league of expertise. Lol XD Im not much an electronic person so this is a new learning experience, but the World Race Team is amazing because they give me step by step processes of how to do things and God is amazing because none of this is me, its all him.
See all the amazing things God has already done on this journey? God is at work in my life and the lives of those around me. If I wouldn’t have stopped that morning, I wouldn’t have seen all this the way I do now. Don’t ever let the distractions of life screw your image of what’s really important and true. I am so excited for what the Lord is going to do and for what he is already done.
AND THAT’S IT!!! My first blog post. WOW! I can’t believe it. The first in many more to come. 🙂
Your sister in Christ,
Alex 🙂
