Happy New Years everyone! It is officially the year of 2020! The year I graduate from my high school career, the year where I embark on a new journey and the year my life changes forever as I enter adulthood and follow where God leads me.
It really is crazy how time flys by so quickly. When the new year hit, at first I felt happiness. New year, new beginnings, but then so many other emotions flooded into my mind. The realization of leaving behind the safety and structure of school. Leaving behind friends and family to go to an unknown place. Emotions whelmed up and tears began to flow as sadness and just a little tingle of fear crept in. But then the Lord wrapped his big arms around me and the tears changed to joyful ones as I realized this year I would grow even closer in relation to him. My Lord and savior. My all in all. How wonderful a realization.
When the New Year comes around, many people make New Year resolutions or even choose a specific word for the whole year. My new word for the year is Freedom, and I will tell you why.
Sometimes in life I act more like a slave than someone who is free. I can be a slave to anxiety, depression, religion rather than relation, etc. Life can be so busy and hectic. There’s not much time to stop and breath. Especially it being my senior year, things are changing. There are so many decisions to make, things to do and sometimes it can honestly be hard. However this year that all ends. This year I am going to stop and breath. I am going to enjoy the life God has given me and walk in the Freedom that he provides.
So with that here are some updates:
– The holidays were good. We went to Minnesota to see dads side of the family and it was good to see everyone.
– My December Adopt a Box fundraiser went well! All the boxes were filled and so I created the video as a prize swimming in snow in my bathing suit. (Here’s the link if you would like to see it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsWYLfkUZlI&t=16s ) I’m taking a break on a specific fundraiser for January because its musical season at school and Im very busy with it. However, February I will be coming out with a new fundraiser. Drumroll please?… SHIRTS!!! FOR THE MONTH OF FEBUARY I WILL BE SELLING SHIRTS. Im so excited for these! The designs are being created right now. Be sure to check them out once they come.
– My old church in England (Well Street United) has committed to supporting me financially with a pretty big chunk of money and I am SUPER thankful for them and their support.
– God is also SO good because my current church, Fellowship Alliance Chapel, originally was not going to support me because we are a big church and if they did it for me they would have to do it for everyone. But I requested support from the missions board and sent them my WRGY video. A couple weeks later, one of my pastors came up to me and said in the new Years they had agreed to support me. Praise God! He is so good! Mom and I started jumping up and down when he told us. π
– Lastly, this year my goal and prayer is to be fully funded before I leave for the Race. It is also my goal to have almost all my gear and packing list complete around the end of spring and I’m very excited to say that some of the things I will be taking have already arrived in the mail. I’ve got a dry sack, my pillow, a headlamp, a rain cover for my back pack and my fav… SARONGS! They are honestly the coolest things and very multi purposeful. They can be a towel, a skirt or even a hair wrap. (Ive got pics below. Lol) Im getting really pumped about this adventure! π
That’s all he updates I have for you. I’ll probably blog again when my shirts come out so all you lovely people can see them. Thanks for reading.
I wish you all blessings this New Year,
Paige/Alex π
P.S. I got the pillow but I probably won’t take that one on the race with me. It was said by other racers to be the best kind to take but I honestly don’t like it, so I’ll probably just take one of my own. π
