Ever since I said yes to this crazy thing called the World Race, I have constantly been getting two questions: Are you excited for your trip? Are you nervous to leave?

The simple answer for both those questions is yes.

Am I excited for my trip? Yes! I am so excited to see how God is going to work through me to help impact others lives and to see how He changes my life. I can’t wait to meet my team and have a new family that loves God just as much as I do. I am eager to create new memories I will share for years on. So to say the least, yes I am excited for my trip.

Am I nervous to leave? Yes of course I am nervous! I am beyond nervous and have no idea what I am going to do without everyone at home for nine months. I am so nervous to leave my parents who have helped with all my big life decisions. I am so nervous to leave my sister who I have an incredible bond with. I am so nervous to be put in situation I may not no how to handle. I could go on and on about all the things I am nervous about. They would range from missing my dogs to wishing I took the normal path after high school to college to just wanting to be home. So I could chose to focus on all of my nerves. Or I could focus on my amazing God who is providing this incredible experience for me.

Over the holiday break, I really struggled with focusing on my amazing God. Instead I focused on all of the nerves. When I spent time with family, I would dread the thought of not being with them next year for the joyful time holidays bring. When I hung out with friends over break, I thought about how hard it will be to leave them in September. I constantly found myself focusing on the negatives and being scared of a new lifestyle I will soon be living.

Then one day in my car, God put the perfect song on. This song reminded me that I don’t have to be afraid and nervous of leaving, because He is my God. He will make me brave. The song was “You Make Me Brave” by Bethel Music. Even though it is a simple song, it is exactly what I needed to hear at the time.

So now when I begin to think negative and fearful thoughts, I remind myself that God will make me brave. I know God likes to call people out of their comfort zone because He knows He is able to make every person brave enough to conquer their fears of leaving a comfort zone.

I challenge you to think about how God has made you brave. What is a situation He helped you through? Did you realize it was Him? Did you ever thank him?

Blessings,

Paige
