Hey everyone! As I prepared for the Race, I got asked a lot what a normal day would look like and what I would actually be doing on the field. Before launching for the Race, I honestly had no idea what my days for the next 9 months were going to look like. I didn’t know if I’d have early mornings or late nights. I didn’t know if I’d have the normal Saturday and Sunday weekend, or if different days of the week would be my weekend. I didn’t know if I would have a schedule or nothing at all. I was walking into the unknown for my daily life. However, now living in Romania for almost 2 months, I know what my daily life looks like and want to share it with all of you! So here’s a day in the life in Romania! If you’re more of a visual person, focus more on the pictures instead of the words! Enjoy! :):)
7:00 am – I typically wake up earlier than everyone else with my genes of being an early bird (thanks dad!). A few days out of the week, I wake up a little earlier in order to go to the gym and get a few good workouts in each week. But no matter the time I wake up, I try to always start my day with some good old quiet time with Jesus. For month 2, we are going through a daily devotional called “Listening Prayer” written by Seth Barnes, the founder of World Race.
7:45 am – Breakfast is usually ready by now. Our teams rotate who cooks so sometimes I wake up earlier and cook breakfast, but today wasn’t my day! Breakfast is usually scrambled eggs, breakfast burritos, or oatmeal.
8:15 am – We walk to our ministry office and do our daily morning devotional time alone but together in one room. Since the end of training camp, I have started reading the Bible in a year, so I am typically going through the day’s reading at this time. I also study scriptures people message me, listen to music and soak in God’s love, or go through my prayers and type some to God.
9:00 am – After we’re done with morning devos, our host, Raul, comes to begin our morning time. This time varies in what it looks like. A lot of the time we are interceding, this means praying on behalf of these people, for the people of Craiova, the missionaries who work with Raul, the ministry, and people we’ve met are just a few. This is also a time where people give teachings to help us learn more about Jesus and who He’s called us to be. During this time, I’ve learned how important it is to be really in tune with the Word and knowing your Bible. This picture is of the beautiful painting of World that we get to pray and learn in front of everyday. It’s great reminder of preaching the Gospel to all the nations (Mark 16:15).
That’s what a typical morning looks like, but of course since I was taking pictures today, we did something different! Instead of interceding today, a small group went to clean an apartment, so that’s what the pictures are from!
11:45 am – We’ve walked back to the house and a few teammates cook lunch for all of us. We have a little chill time. Some days I take a short nap. Other days I pray or read a book.
12:30 pm – After lunch dishes are done, we begin team time! This is a daily thing that helps us grow closer to our teammates and closer to God. It changes each day what we do, but is on a weekly schedule. We have Monday’s as a break with team time since it’s our Sabbath. Then Tuesday’s are free for all. My team is currently going through and sharing our life stories with each other, asking questions, and then praying and prophesying over each other.Wednesday’s we do a Bible study called the Bible Project. Thursday’s are blogging days. Friday’s are for feedback time to call each other higher and to be stronger Women of God. Saturday’s we debrief the week and answer questions provided by leadership. Lastly, Sunday’s we have squad worship.
2:00 pm – By this time, we walk back to the ministry office and begin afternoon ministry. The majority of my team go out and continue building relationships and meet up with locals, but I stay back at the office and do administrative work. This may sound boring to you, but I absolutely love it! Admin work is one of the gifts God blessed me with and I am very thankful He’s blessed me with ministry that aligns with my gifts.
My ministry looks different most days, but I usually just work on my to do list and help when ever Raul asks me to help with something. My to do list consists of updating Facebook, sorting through emails, updating the calendar, planning some morning sessions, checking in with my teams, and other miscellaneous office work that needs done. I really enjoy this as my ministry because I get to know Raul and Cristina on a more personal level and am constantly learning things from them!
7:00 pm – We’re all typically back at the house by this time and dinner is either almost done or we’re enjoying it already! Again, another few teammates cook dinner and it alway tastes delicious! After dinner, we pretty much have free time until we want to go to bed. Some evenings we have squad plans, but not very often. During this time, I typically shower, read my book, pray some more, play games with friends, or just chill in my bed and talk to the people around me.
9:30 pm- Since I am such an early bird, I am often one of the first people asleep and ready for bed. At this time, I’m usually winded down and laying in bed listening to music and falling asleep to be well rested for a busy and productive next day.
So there ya have it! That’s what a typical day looks like during my months here in Romania! If you have any questions or comments, make sure you leave a note below! I love reading what you all have to say and answering questions!
As the weeks left in Romania get fewer and fewer, I ask for prayers that myself and my team are still focused on reaching the people here in Craiova and not looking too far into the future. Thank you for your continued support and prayers! Love you all!
