I am in Marathon training mode.  I am about 1/3 of the way through my training and things have been going well.  In fact, I did some calculating and I figured out that in the month of March I ran a total of 139.71 miles!  Which is averaging about 4.5 miles per day.  That is incredible.  That is like running to Hudson and back, all in the matter of a month.  Needless to say I have put on some miles.

Not only is mileage looking good, my times are not too bad either.  I have a calendar that I record all my miles, times and paces for each run.  I also like to jot down funny or inspiring things that happened on each run.  Anyway, looking back over my times, they have improved.  I have also noticed a difference.  I am getting stronger.  The miles seem to come easier.  I still have quite a ways to go, but it is good to see my progress.

Sometimes we are faced with things we can not control.  Things that get in our way, unexpected little hindrances that seem to ruin our plans.  My little hindrance started down in Texas.  I had noticed a little pain in my foot.  I thought many factors went into the pain I was having.

I ran my first long run.

I got news shoes.

And I may have made a poor decision with footwear.  I walked all day in these cute, but non supporting shoes, along the cement board walk in Galveston.  (oops.)

I thought that the pain would just go away after a while.   But it didn't.  It actually got worst.  It hurt when I ran, but I could bear the pain.  Then it got to the point where I could hardly put weight on it.

I knew my foot wasn't going to get any better with me still running on it.  I had to stop running in order for healing to happen.  My foot needed rest.  So I am taking a break from running for a while.  As hard as it is for me to give it up for a week, I know it is for the best.  It needs rest.  I don't want to risk doing serious damage to my foot.

My Great Grandpa gave me the best advice, "Take care of your feet, they are important."

I still have some miles left to go, and I need my feet to take me there.

I am praying for quick healing so my training can continue.
