God has been doing a good work in me.
Part of what he had been teaching me the last month in Swaziland is about my voice. It is crazy how God will use you in ways that you don’t ever expect to be used. He will actually use you to do things you never thought you could do, or in ways that terrify you. Let me tell you a little story God used to show me that I have been given the mighty roar of a lion.
It all started on a wet and rainy Sunday morning. We didn’t have any plans for the day, so I grabbed my good running buddy Cara. She and I both love runs in the rain. It was one of the best runs I had in a long time. We ran hard, challenging each other to keep up a fast pace, even up the monsterous mountains. We were soaked to the skin, strands of hair plastered to our faces, muddy shoes, and smiles that could not be wiped away. These smiles came from the inside out. I had so much joy after that run I could have just burst. I love that God has given me such joy in running and working my body hard. It is pure joy to me. I got back and I was so filled with His joy that I didn’t know what to do. I was so filled.
I made me way down to our camp, which was basicly on the edge of the mountain. We were right on the top of a mountain and right at the very edge was this rock. I came to that place and I stood at the edge. Everything inside me just wanted to scream at the top of my lungs. I felt that was the only way I could express my joy to God. I looked around nervously, and I was only a few feet from the kitchen, which is where everyone else was gathered. I didn’t want anyone to hear me, so I walked a little farther out.
I came to this boulder. It was about twice my height. This was the perfect spot. I thought of my little cousin as I scaled this rock. His favorite Superhero is Spiderman. I deffinetly used my spidy skills to climb this enormous boulder.
At this point it was still pouring rain. I stood at the very edge of the rock and looked out over the valley. The sight before me was incredible. The beauty before my eyes was breathtaking. I was finally alone. It was just me and God. I stood up on my tippy toes and from the bottom of my toes to the tip of my tongue I let out a scream. It startled me. I had a voice and it was powerful. I could hear it ring through out the valley. I even heard my echo bounce back off the other side of the mountain.
The hugest smile came to my face. I have a voice. I stood there in the pouring rain thanking God for this precious gift. I couldn’t hold it in any longer. I let out another scream. This time there was no hesitation or doubt in my voice. I had confidence. Tears fell from my cheeks as I continued praying. I was empowered. I have been given the roar of a mighty lion, and your going to hear me roar.
I am not exactly sure in which ways God is going to use my voice, but I have learned that it is something that He has given to me.
I am Paige Jaquish, daughter of the King, with the might roar of a lion, listen to me ROAR!
Funny story, lions have been my very favorite animal ever since I was little. I have yet to see one here in Africa. Perhaps that is for the next visit.
Thank you for your prayers and support,
I love you all!
