On Thursday we went to Hermana Gloria’s house to have lunch and it was delicious! We had some white rice, salad (I’m not a salad person but boy this one was good), and some pollo sudado “sweaty chicken”. But what was awesome about this visit wasn’t the food but the encounter we were able to have while we were there.
As we walked in Gloria wasn’t alone she was accompanied by Diana, her neighbor. Diana was so loving and welcoming as we made our way inside. She helped serve us and treated us with such care calling the girls princesses and the guys princes as she handed us the plates.
It wasn’t until Diana had to leave that Gloria shared with us that Diana wasn’t a believer. She’s heard the gospel but never accepted Christ and she also shared how kind of a person Diana is and the heart she had of a servant. It was actually by chance that Diana was there. Diana just went to ask Gloria a question and Gloria ended up asking her if she would help her prepare our meal. Gloria shared with her a bit of her testimony and asked if we could pray for her before she left.
We prayed and once we said amen Diana was in tears. She was crying and thanking everyone hugging us with such passion. You were able to truly see the gratitude in her words and eyes. I would have never known that she was not a believer if I wasn’t told. Her actions spoke volumes and that was without Christ leading here. We were able to see that her heart was ready to say the sinners prayer so a teammate lead her in that prayer.
After Diana said her final goodbyes Gloria went a little more in-depth about Diana’s life and shared how she was an addict. How she would share the gospel to her here and there but never really presented the sinners prayer to her.
We are planing to go back to meet up with Diana early next week to be able to check up on her and to have dialogue with her more about the gospel and her decision on accepting Christ as her savior.

¡El jueves fuimos a la casa de Hermana Gloria a almorzar y estuvo delicioso! Comimos un poco de arroz blanco, ensalada (no soy una persona de ensaladas, pero este era bueno), y a pollo sudado. Pero lo sorprendente de esta visita no fue la comida, sino el encuentro que pudimos tener mientras estuvimos allí.
Cuando entramos, Gloria no estaba sola, ella estaba acompañada por Diana, su vecina. Diana fue tan amorosa y acogedora mientras que entrabamos. Nos ayudó a servirnos y nos trató con tanto amor llamándonos princesas y príncipes cuando noes entregaba los platos.
No fue hasta que Diana tuvo que irse que Gloria compartió con nosotros que Diana no era una creyente. Ella escuchó el evangelio pero nunca aceptó a Cristo y también compartió lo amable que es Diana y el corazón que tenía de un sirviente. En realidad fue por casualidad que Diana estaba allí. Diana solo fue a hacerle una pregunta a Gloria y Gloria terminó preguntándole si ella la ayudaría a preparar nuestra comida. Gloria compartió con ella un poco de su testimonio y preguntó si podíamos orar por ella antes de irse.
Oramos y una vez dijimos que amén Diana estaba llorando. Estaba llorando y agradeciendo a todos por abrazarnos con tanta pasión. Pudiste ver verdaderamente la gratitud en sus palabras y ojos. Nunca hubiera sabido que ella no era creyente si no me hubieran dicho. Sus acciones hablaron mucho y eso fue sin que Cristo dirigiera aquí. Pudimos ver que su corazón estaba listo para decir la oración de los pecadores, por lo que un compañero de equipo la guió en esa oración.
Después de que Diana se despidió, Gloria profundizó un poco más en la vida de Diana y compartió cómo era una adicta. Cómo compartiría el evangelio con ella aquí y allá, pero nunca realmente le presentó la oración de los pecadores.
Estamos planeando volver a reunirnos con Diana a principios de la próxima semana para poder controlarla y dialogar con ella más sobre el evangelio y su decisión de aceptar a Cristo como su salvador.
