I learned from my previous job that not everyone that says they are being the hands and feet of Jesus are actually doing it in a healthy way. This has brought me to always pray and ask God to send host that have the right heart posture for God and His work…well being on the world race, I had to change that pray a little to Lord please send us to host that are truly walking and living out your truth.
When I came into this race, my only expectation was growth, I have no expectations for what ministry will look like, I have no expectations to what living conditions will be like and I have no expectations to what our host will be like.
God is a good father so He always has his children’s best at heart. El Salvador holds one of the most powerful, strong, amazing, wonderful, caring, loving, approachable, joyous woman of God I have had the privilege to meet, her name Mireya!! Her name has two meanings in Spanish is means Miracle and boy was she a miracle to myself, team and the community around her.
She was our host for the month of El Salvador but she is more than that, she is a wife and mother who wakes up at the crack of dawn to get her family fed and prepared for the day ahead. She is a daughter who loves her mother well and you can see the admiration in her eyes. She is a sister who always gets excited when her siblings are around and takes the time to sit and speak to them, no matter how busy it is around her. She is a friend that people can come to for her to listen, support and pray for them. She is a pastor who leads her church with truth, love, joy and fun. She is a true daughter of God who carries joy with her. Real authentic joy that can only come from God.
Joy is defined by a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. Jubilation, triumph, exultation, rejoicing which is everything Mireya carries with her and so much more. She has taught me how to be a praying wife, who instead prays for people to change, she prays for her heart to change, she has taught me to love someone through whatever stage of life they are going through even if it’s hard to watch them suffer. She has taught me how to submit but also stand for what is right, she has taught me how to build community but also lead and love them well. She has taught me that no matter what be happy, dance and dress up as a clown to make others happy.
Mireya, Mom, Madre!! You, your family, your church, your community and your country have left a mark on my heart that will be there for eternity.
Gracias.
I am currently in Guatemala at debrief (debrief is a week where we get to relax, refill and get poured into by our amazing leadership team and squad).
I am still fundraising and still in need of donations, I would love for you to partner with me by donating any amount in order to help me continue this calling God has called me to.
