I’m currently hospitalized in Nairobi, Kenya. In January my stomach started hurting so I went to clinics to check it out. I was getting better. When we arrived to our second location in Senga Bay, Malawi, I started getting odd bumps on my finger, leg, and ankle. They all happened differently. None looked like the other. They were all painful in some way.

Malawi did not have the medical care I needed so I was flown out of Malawi and into Kenya. As soon as I arrived to the hospital, I was admitted. Early the next morning I had a minor surgery to remove any infections. The next day I had a colonoscopy. I’ve had many specialists come see me.

The doctors believe I have an autoimmune disease called Pyoderma Gangrenous and that being in Africa only triggered the extreme symptoms.

I have been told that I cannot continue the World Race. The doctors don’t know when I’ll be able to travel back to the US. Being on a plane for 24 hours is too extreme for me right now.

I’m currently bedridden—which is hard. My wounds don’t hurt until the doctors clean them out. I typically cry a lot during the process. I have been given a lot of antibiotics through an IV but am now being switched to steroids. Pain medicine is my friend.

God has taught me a lot. He’s revealed a lot to me. I don’t know why this is happening but I trust in His goodness. He points me to Romans 8:28. He reminds me of Ecclesiastes 3:1 and He tells me of John 3:16. He carries me in my weaknesses.

At times I get scared. But fear is not from Him. I will rejoice in His goodness. When I am sad, I start stating what I am thankful for.

This is hard.

But He is with me.

I truly believe that God’s will is going to play out. I am praying for favor and believing that He will heal me—completely heal me.

Thank you for your prayers. Join me in praying for complete healing. He is our ultimate Physician. He hears our prayers. I believe. Do you?

He is good and sovereign.
