I the beginning of all of this I had people in my family that were a bit hesitant about getting on board with Gap Year but now they are an amazing support to me. God has also blessed me with another amazing family, my church family.

I get the amazing opportunity to spend about 10 hours a week working at my home church as an intern. Sunday morning our lead pastor, Pastor Dave, introduced me to the congregation as the intern. Most everyone already knew because we are a smaller church and looking out into the congregation I felt a wave of emotion. So many people in those pews had helped shape me to be the young woman I am today. Before I sat down Pastor Dave asked to pray over my with the church and many of the church staff came to lay hands on me. As he prayed I didn’t just feel the presents of the Holy Spirit I felt overwhelming love and support. I tried to fight back tears but in reality I just knew that there was no point. With family you don’t have to hide anything. You can be vulnerable. Blood does not make us family, a shared love of Jesus Christ is what brings us together. Sunday, and hostly everyday, I am reminded that I have another family standing behind me.
