0ver the weekend I post about my time doing construction ministry and what I had learned. I thought that was a ministry we were done with, but I was worng. This week we had the opportunity to go back for 2 more days.

I was glad to get to see this project gain more progress. The first day went as expected and was a lot of fun. On the second day things got interesting. The day started like normal, we drove to the site and carried tools up the hills.  While we were setting up Rasta pulls me aside and gives me instructs on the first thing that needs done. Afterwards he stops, to say ” I’m going to be gone today I have a meeting at 11:30″ and continues. After giving me a long list he tells me “you’re in charge, I want you deligating.”  I didnt really know how to respond. I was processing the fact the our base host was leaving the construction of a man’s house in the hands of and 18 year old girl. That would never happen in the states. He left, and we got to work. I started assigning jobs and my squad mates jumped in. With in 10 minutes I was surrendered by everyone hammering, cutting and measuring. The day went very smoothly and I am really thankful for not only the trust Rasta had in me, but my squad as well.

I’ve been praying for God to teach me how to lead, but I never expected to lead like this. I’m 18, I’ve never worked construction for a real business, and the only training I had was what my dad thought me growning up. I’ve been telling God why I unqualified for the things He calls me to do. I’ve been telling Him why I am unequipped. Back in the states that wouldn’t have worked, I would have been the right person for the job. But here, I was the right person. God used me where I was needed. Sometimes the world’s standards for qualified and God’s are different.
