Hi, my name is Olivia. I’m currently 18 years old, and will graduate from high school this June (!!!!).
I could include some facts about me (like how I taught myself to play the banjo, have a few dreadlocks, or seem to find myself in a lot of uncomfortable situations) but I think it’s more important to note that I’m here because my faith is my sole reason for existence.
Saying that, whole heartedly, does not come with particular ease. Yes, I was the cookie cutter example of the Sunday School child driven to soccer practice with a fish on her mom’s station wagon. Yet, I’ve found that life is full of complications. Our society associates pain with weakness, so instead we stuff our emotions. The spiritual battle surrounding us is easy to ignore in the name of busy schedules.
I am doing the World Race because I believe that strengthening my personal relationship with Christ is, and needs to be, the greatest priority in my life. I think Scripture puts it best as, “The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see.” (Hebrews 11:1-2).
Hey, David Bowie makes a valid point, too: “I don’t know where I’m going, but I promise it won’t be boring.”
Stay tuned.
