Hey hey all my friends, family, and supporters!! Thank you for the continued prayers, encouragement, and for keeping up with me!
I’m officially on month two of the Race!!! This month instead of just my team of 6 being together, our whole squad of 30 plus our squad leaders(WR alumni) are all doing ministry together in the beautiful country of Nicaragua.
Here in Nicaragua, it is very common for men get kidney failure from the deadly herbicides that are used in the sugar cane fields where many men work. Once they get sick with this disease, they are sent home with no job and usually no financial help. Sadly, this leads to families losing their husbands, fathers, and sons; some in their early 20s. Even through the hardships, the way God’s love shines through this place and these people is so beautiful. This month we get the privilege to work with Vision Nicaragua; an organization that reaches out to the families and communities affected by these pains.
Vision Nicaragua Mission Statement
In obedience to the Greatest Commandment, Vision Nicaragua exists to enhance Love, Life, Relationships, Growth, and Potential in local communities.
Vision Nicaragua has such passion and care for the people of this country and strives to put an end to past cycles. Through their sponsorship programs, children are able to receive an education and eventually be able to get jobs outside the sugar cane plantations, widows are assisted in their financial set-backs, and men with chronic kidney disease receive spiritual support, medical treatment, and financial assistance to provide for their families after they are let go from their jobs.
Just in the one week that we have been working alongside Vision Nicaragua, it is so evident that God is working and moving through these people and these villages. As we have went home to home to pray with families and the men who have kidney failure, I have seen the pain in their eyes but also seen their longing and love for God. God has led us to praying with and loving others who don’t know Jesus or don’t want to follow him. Through that some have decided to follow God and asked him to walk along side them in this life, and some haven’t. But even through the ones who haven’t, I can see that it has planted a seed of love in their hearts. As we pass by the school and I hear the children’s sweet voices’, I can vision the hopeful future that some once did not have. God’s love is radiating in this beautiful country.
I look forward to continue to see God work as we go into the schools, homes, and villages of Nicaragua and hear the hearts and stories of the people we now consider friends.
