All my life I have wanted to travel. I want to go around the world and really experience the different cultures and lifestyles other than my own. I wanted to fill my eyes, ears, and body full of new knowledge that I never learned before. I want to live my life and spread my boundaries.
I have also wanted to live through Christ. As I have grown, my relationship with God has as well. High School sure can put a toll on a teenager but with the help of my friends and family I have set my path towards God. Ever since then I have always wanted to reach out to others especially in different countries. Mission trip always seemed so fun and life changing but I never seemed to find a time to do it. However, the stories from past mission trips excited me and made me yearn for that type of experience and dependence on God.
Starting my senior year at high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life or where I wanted to go to college. Even with all the options I had, I felt limited. Honestly, I didn’t feel ready yet. My parents brought up the idea of possibly taking a GAP year before I go off to college. I loved the idea! I spent hours searching for programs and options on how and where to take my gap year. There were so many options but expenses were a huge factor.
Some programs offered community based work but weren’t centered around Christianity. I really felt like I needed God’s help and His vision to be apart of my travels. After a while I was becoming scared and worried that I would never find a trip that suited me. After months of stressing, my best friend’s sister recommended I look up World Race. Her friend had gone through it and loved it. I thought I would give it a look since I was running out of time.
I loved it. I love everything about it. The fact that I would be traveling all over, be gone for enough time to really make a difference, out on the mission field helping others, and of course being surrounded by young adults just like me seeking to be closer to God and helping others to know God as well.
Now I am on the road to God’s glory. I have been putting my faith in God to help me with my expenses and God has been listening to my prayers. I could not be more excited about my trip and the lives I will have the opportunity to impact.
