What a wonderful weekend spent in Huamachuco!
Thursday evening we packed up sleeping bags, a small weekend pack,
and headed to the bus station to make the 10:30pm departure.
We arrive at 4am and quickly followed our contact to our sleeping accommodations for the night.

With welcoming arms, and servants hearts, the people of the this city welcomed us into their humble homes.

We had a blast making fools of ourselves and inviting the children of Huamachuco to EBVD…aka VBS.

Through bible stories, skits, games, songs, and crafts we taught the children
about the power of our God as told in the story of Daniel.

How can you NOT fall in love with these precious kids….thats the question.
Daniel and Raquel are two of the children that attended our VBS.
Their mother is is charge of running the church and they just so happen to have smiles that light up the room. (Sorry, the picture does not do them justice) Upon meeting them, I fell in love.
Although I don’t speak much spanish, on of my greatest desire for this trip is to be able to connect with people. So I learned how to ask a couple questions in spanish (favorite color, favorite animal, exc..), and then taught Raquel how to play rock-paper-scissors. Its funny how even the littlest things can bring about a friendship.
Next time I saw her she ran up to me and gave me a huge hug. I love how willing kids are to love. Its no wonder Christ so often speaks of them so highly in His word.
On a slightly different note……
Check out what the in’s and out’s of life looked like for us this week.
*Sleeping accommodations # 2 *

*UUUUUMMMM……team time!? *

*How many people CAN you fit in one taxi?*

*Whats that under the dinner table? Oh yah know…just 15 or so Guinea Pigs*

*A lovely dish of Lamb intestine in some sot of sauce….please note everyones faces 😉 *

*Yes, thats a real door….watch your heads! *

*Our team with 2 friends from Trujillo who led VBS with us*

Even though we only spent 3 days with our kids, we grew to love them.
It was strange on the last day looking out at their faces and knowing
that I would probably never see them again.
But thats what I have signed up for.
On The World Race we go from country to country connected with people and investing in their lives. We learn to love them and then as we leave,
we leave part of our heart,
and learn again and again how to say goodbye.
If you never love anything or anyone, you never have to deal with
even the chance of feeling this.
But we have been called to a life of love.
A life of self sacrifice, following in the steps of our precious Savior.
And so we press on…..
