link on the left that will take you to the page where you can see all
the recent blog posts from folks on your squad, through the “October 2011 Updates” link. Read your squadmate’s
blogs to get a feel for what’s going on with them.
World Race network, just click the “New & Improved Blogging
Tutorials” at the top of your page when you are logged in as editor on
your blog. It will take you to a page that will walk you through things
like how to post a blog and how to share pictures and video. It will
even help you with some photo etiquette for the field. You can also
access that site directly at www.blogging.adventures.org.
Below is a video I pulled from that site. It’s an interviewwith a guy named Ira Glass. Ira Glass is one of my favorite hosts on
NPR. He’s the host of a show called “This American Life” where they
take stories of otherwise normal folks or events and present them in a
really interesting way. The folks at “This American Life” are basically
professional story-tellers who are GREAT at their jobs. In the video
below, Ira will share his “Basic Building Blocks of a Story”. I
especially like when he talks at the end about how an exciting story
told poorly can fall flat and a mundane story told well can have great
impact.
[Here’s a story from one of my original squadmates, with some mundane facts told really well with a great “moment of reflection”]
