Your deadline to have $6000 in your support account is approaching fast! Sometimes just talking to people is not enough. Do not stop talking to people, getting together for coffee or sharing with different groups, but here are some other ways in which you can go about fund raising.
- Silent auction – this usually takes some leg work with trying to find businesses that will donate bigger things that you can auction off. I know a girl who did a silent auction, live auction and dinner party in one night and raised $6000!!!
- Print a small book and promise any donors a copy of it – you can print up prayers, poems, encouragements, bible verse or fun quotes, or a combination!
- Video – Tell people what you need, some people are more willing to watch a video than to read a blog.
- Find a matching donor – Find someone who is willing to give a large amount ($1000 or more) and have other donors match it.
- Birthday gifts – have people give the amount of money of your age. So if you are 25 have people give $25 as a bday gift.
- $10 Tuesdays!!!
- Challenge amounts – make a goal for your supporters to reach and if you get to it by the specified time, then you do something crazy, like dye your hair, dress like a clown for a day, or do a crazy dance that you will tape and put up on YouTube!
- Puzzle Pieces – Sell puzzle pieces to the members of your church for $10 each. Once all the puzzle pieces are sold your church can put it together to show how they are all part of the puzzle and part of helping you. (So that pieces don’t get lost, give them a piece of paper or something showing that they are part of it, then when the puzzle is ready to be put together, they can be a part of solving the puzzle.)
- Profit shares from restaurants – Places like Chic-Fil-A and Texas Roadhouse are great places to go and ask, they are usually willing to help!
- Contact local Newspapers or Magazines to have a story run about you.
- Talk to a Rotary Club or other charitable organizations.
- Ask supporters to pass letters to people they know.
- Have an online auction to sell your artwork or photography.
- Car Wash / Bake Sale / Dinner / Tea Party / Game Day / Ice Cream Social / Casino Night … Be creative!!! Have things to sell at those events like bracelets from Threads of Hope, T-shirts (fundthenations.com), or WR gear!!!
- Bracelets – Sell a bracelet for more than usual, maybe $10, then take a second bracelet with you for every one sold and give it to a child in another country. Take a picture of you, that child and the bracelet and send it to your supporter with the story of the child.
- World Race Run – Get pledges for each lap you can run.
- Promise to send a picture with some ministry you are helping with and the story along with it that they can frame or put a magnet on for their refrigerator.
- For every $100 given to you, you will go ??? days without showering, without shaving, with braids in your hair, etc…
- Put a jar in your dentist, doctor, hairstylists office/desk with a poster of information and pictures.
- Garage Sale
- PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!!! Include your church in this by setting up a 24 hour fasting/prayer time at your church.
This is a long list, do not get overwhelmed! Pick a few that you feel would be good for the people you know, if those don’t work pick a few others. Also, if you have any suggestions of things that are either great ideas or things that you know that have worked, please email me ([email protected]) so I can get those ideas to everyone! Most of these can even work after you have already left for the World Race. This list was compiled by racers who were already on the field. You will needs friends and family to come along side you in this time, and also into the future if you are not fully funded by the time you leave for the race.
God called you to this and He is going to provide for you!!!
