Well Hello October Squad!!!

So it’s nice to officially “meet” you all. My name is Laura Jacobs and I am here to help you all through the Support Raising Process. I figured you might just want to know a little about the “woman behind the curtain” as we get started!

I am originally from West Texas… and love it. Yup, it’s dry, dusty, and has no trees… best place in the world! I grew up always knowing about Church-ianity but never about Jesus until my freshman year of college. I can tell you that story some other time. From the very beginning, following Jesus meant putting feet to your faith. I don’t have an “I was called to missions…” story… I just always knew that’s where I was headed.

The World Race was the second mission trip I ever went on. I was part of the 2006 World Race… which was the first ever Race that happened. In case you haven’t noticed, every squad is given a letter of the alphabet… but since we were the first we were “pre-letter”. So we’re affectionately called the Pioneer Squad. It was an amazing trip that absolutely changed my life… but again… I’ll tell that story some other time.

Not long after the Race, I got married to an amazing man named Corey and we have lived in Gainesville and worked with AIM since 2007.

Support raising is an incredible journey and I’m excited to walk through it with you. God showed up in the midst of my support raising process and continues to show up as Corey and I raise support today. It’s not easy, but I have grown in my faith and trust in God in incredible ways. I’m pumped to walk with you guys as God shows up for you too.

So your first goal is not so far away. You can see on your “Home” page that by June 16 we want you to have $2000. Some of you are super close to that… some of you have way more than that… and others of you might just be freaking out about that. No matter where you are, I’m here to help. Call me any time or drop me an email and we’ll walk through this process.

I want you to know that my job is to help and encourage you. When a deadline comes around, if you have less than the goal amount, I will need you to call in and talk to me. This isn’t a time where I’ll yell or scream or kick you out. This is a time when we’ll talk and work together to get to the next goal. So don’t ever hesitate to call in when it’s time.

On the flip side of that, if you don’t call me, I can’t help you. My role is to advocate for you… to go to the Logistics team and say “I know there’s not enough money for their plane ticket just yet… but I’ve talked to them and it’s coming.” If I can’t vouch for you and you don’t have the money, then we will have ultra-hard conversations. Therefore… let’s just keep in touch! You call me, we’ll have a fun conversation, and things will come together.

I believe in you guys and I’m pumped to get to know you more and more!
