Hi friends! My team and I are finishing up our month in Ulaanbaatar. God has been showing up day after day and I can’t tell you how blessed I feel to serve the people in this beautiful country.
Ministry this month consisted of going out into the town and creating friendships with young adults. We taught English classes twice a week, and we also held a game night/worship night twice a week. We invited everyone we met in town to these events and we introduced them to the local church we partnered with.
We had a rough time getting people to come the first week, but we began to see results after! We bonded with the locals that attend this church and we’ve been getting to minister to them almost daily! They have been extremely hospitable with us and they’re very thankful to have us. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of the girls coming in and giving us a tight hug every time they see us.
Our team has also been assigned to share the word on Sundays! The first week we had church I was able to share my testimony. Super nerve-wrecking to go up there! Haha but after service I had a cute old Mongolian lady hug me and tell me a bunch of stuff in Mongolian. I have no clue what she said to me, but she gave me a thumbs up and hugged me again. Little things like that make you feel like you’re making a difference in someone’s life. That’s my favorite part of this whole World Race. Those innocent moments you share with a stranger. Where you can’t even communicate with them, but you know you both share the same passion and love for Jesus. That makes it all worth it.
We did have a couple of nights that nobody came to our events and I was feeling extremely bummed out about it. But I began to realize that there was no reason for me to feel that way, because not everything we do here will flourish while we’re here. I remembered that things don’t always happen when we want them to. Especially when it comes to bringing people to Christ. God decides when it’s their time to believe and have faith. I knew my team and I were doing the very best we could to get people to come, and since I wanted to do more I prayed and asked God to open up doors for us.
After praying about this I decided to reach out to an organization called Streams in the Desert. They help women who were stuck in the sex trade but decided to step away from that lifestyle. They have a safe house for them and their children, and they also provide them with jobs and a good community. I let them know that I was here for a month and I wanted to help volunteer in any way possible. They contacted me the next morning and my team and I had a meeting to talk about ways we could volunteer. Since then, we’ve been helping at their daycare, we do a morning devotion with the women, we’ve done prison visits, and taught English at a school with 6th and 8th graders. It’s been such a blessing getting to help them. Getting to partner up with Streams in the Desert was a sweet reminder that God will always come through and provide our heart’s desires, all for His Glory!
I’m sad our time in Mongolia is coming to and end, but we have a whole week for God to continue to do incredible things here! Please pray for my team as we prepare for our next country and we say our goodbyes in Ulaanbaatar 🙂
