HEEEY! What’s up guys! I guess I’ll start off by telling you a little about myself. My name is Norma Gabriela Cortés Alcocer. I am 23 years old and I live in Phoenix Arizona. I was originally born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico and I lived there until I was 12. I moved out here with my mom and sister and we have lived here in Phoenix since.
Mi Familia
A little about my family, my mother raised my sister and I with the help of my grandparents. She is one of the most caring, independent, strong women I’ve ever met. My dad was somewhat in the picture when I was younger, but never around long enough for my sister and I to truly say we had a father figure. My mom has always done her very best to provide for my sister and I, and if you ask me, I think she has done a pretty incredible job. My sister, Dalia, she’s a year and a half older than me. We have had our ups and downs, but she is always there for me to support me no matter much of a brat I am towards her. She made me the aunt of 4 crazy little rascals, of whom I am very proud of; although I swear sometimes they do everything in their power to make me feel otherwise. Their names are Daniella, Orlando, Jacob, and Lilith. Other than them, I have no other family here in Phoenix. The rest of my family lives in Mexico, and it’s a traditional BIG Mexican family. Saludos a todos allá en Monterrey! I also have two awesome mini aussies named Leia and Vader, and they are the sweetest, cutest, fluffiest pups!
The Life
So like any other 23 year old, all my life consists of right now is working, going to school, going to church, eating, and sleeping. Literally, that sums up my life. I just graduated from a community college and received my Associates in Science Degree (I don’t think that does much, but hey at least it’s something!) Also, I currently work as a waitress at Oregano’s Pizza Bistro which is an awesome Italian restaurant you’ll definitely have to try sometime if you’re ever visiting AZ.
I just got accepted into Arizona State University’s Engineering program. I had plans to study mechanical engineering and someday land the dream job of designing Mustangs for Ford. That has been the dream since I can remember. I love fast cars, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t like American Muscle? Mustangs are my favorite!
The Life PLUS JESUS!
OK. Sooo, where to begin? I was introduced to the truth of who Jesus is about a year and a half ago. (I was raised Catholic, but as I got older I fell out of religion and began to question everything. I was left lost, confused, and in the end…not believing.) When I got re-introduced to God it was one of those moments that I always have a hard time putting into words. So I’ll try to explain, but know that this does not remotely compare to what I experienced. While being in the company of very good friends, who were facing very difficult trials at the time, I had an epiphany. I was in His presence…the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. There was no turning back after that. There was no ignoring Him, or pushing Him away, or even doubting Him. I was completely paralyzed and in tears of joy knowing I had been found. The Creator of the Universe literally maneuvered His way into my life. It still blows my mind when I think about it. When I think of the people, the situations, the seeds that He carefully planted and watered; and how everything aligned so perfectly so that I could be in that room that day, delighting in His presence. WOW. I am THAT loved.
Now I have a new passion. JESUS. Ever since I let Him come into my life He has been fixing and repairing my heart, He has been making promises to me, He is molding me into the woman He created me to be! I can honestly tell you that my life has never been better. I have never been this content with life. I have been seeking Him whole-heartedly and the more I know about Him, the more I fall in love. There is a burning passion inside of me now. I have a great desire to become everything He is calling me to be.
So here I am.
About to embark on a journey of a lifetime! Seeking God and allowing Him to lead me into anything He has prepared before me. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to know that I am fully surrendering my life to The Lord, and that I will be His hands and feet. I belong to Him and finding my identity in Christ has truly been a blessing. I believe The Lord has greater plans for me and that perhaps engineering is not what He has in mind for me. But we shall see. This adventure He is taking me on will most definitely reveal the path He chose for me.
I pray that this helps you all get to know me a little bit better & feel comfortable enough to follow me or ask me any questions you might have! 🙂
As you can tell, I’m not a super interesting person but hopefully The Lord does incredible things through me, for His glory. & I will blog and keep you guys updated on everything happening in the nations!
God Bless!
