Flackback to Debrief in Nepal ????
My mom, who I have been communicating with via GoogleHangouts. (Its an app where you can text, send photos, talk, and video call.)
Me and my mom (Jerri)^^
Wearing purple on the right.
She messaged me telling me to call her.
When I read that my heart immediately knew that something was wrong.
When I called her she began to cry. My heart was beating so fast and a blanket fear fell on me; it seemed like a mimi anxiety attack.
In those moments before she told me what was happening, many thoughts were racing through my mind but I began lifting my hand and praising God. I begain quietly praying and telling Him, “You are my rock and comfort, an everpresent help in time of trouble”
She told me that my dad (who lives in South Carolina, they have been divorced for around 20years) called her, and told her he was diagnosed with stage 4 Melanoma Cancer spread internally in his body and in the Lymph Nodes.
my smom (Peggy) & Dad when they visited me for my 1st water baptism in Lake Erie. September 2015.
My confusion and misunderstanding was “why didnt he tell me”?! But then i had to give that to the Lord too.
Why am I praising God in the midst of finding out that one of the people I love the mostis in serious pain and suffering.
Because my assurence, hope and trust is in the Lord. And He is the only One who could comfort my soul in the midst of trouble.
Hope
was(and is) a word I really didn’t understand much on a personal level, or really had a grasp on until this happened. It was an empty word.
But God is so so good, and He gives us Hope!!!
Let Him give examples:
The week before my dad found out he had cancer, one evening my parents (dad and step-mom) decided to go to a local church in town that was having a Revival.
When they went, the pastor announced that he was getting a word from God that someone in the service was about to find out that they had cancer. But God said to not worry or fear, rather trust in Him and He would take care of the situation.
Deut. 6:27
My parents heard that, but little did they think that the prophetic word was for them.
(Wow!! 2 things. How good is God that he would give my family a word to lean on, and I am so glad the guy who gave the word was obedient to actually speak it outloud.)
It’s been a hard journey thus far for my dad and my step mom and the surrounsing family that is helping take care of him.
My dad was very weak & can’t currently walk.
He couldn’t move his arms.
He has lost a lot of weight (maybe thats good?!) and the medicine/Morphine is causing him to think and say strange things at times.
My step mom, Peggy, has been his primary care taker, and she has taken on more hours at the hardware store.
She told me that she has been learning more patience and compassion.
People that my parents have lost relationship with are coming around, many people in my parents town, and even all over the world, from California to India are praying…. commuining with and drawing their attention to our mighty God!!!
I’ve been praying that God would use it to open peoples eyes to the Truth of the Gospel. And for people who already know Christs blood is enough that they would start taking life more seriously.
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
&
He knows what we need before we ask.
God is able to bless my family in so many ways internally and externally.
My parents church came over to their house and worshiped in their living room. I heard that my dad worshiped God like he never had before, followed by a message he gave on how we should love people more!!!!!!!!
Peggy was in awe of the ways Jehova Jirah has been providing for them. When my dad first found out, they did not have insurence. But so much has been given to them and paid for in truly miraculous ways.
My stepmoms work, (Marvins hardware store), they donated a wheelchair lift for my parents house so my dad could easily go to his appointments.
He is Hope, He is Peace, He is Love, He is Joy!!!
ROMANS 5:2-5 (sooo good)
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful. -John 14:27
James 1:2-4
“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.” -John 16:33
Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring ?— ?what your life will be! For you are like vapor that appears for a little while, then vanishes. James 4:14
