Now…my turn. Wow!
I’ve been to many other places around the world, now it was time…for China. I was thanking the Lord for the opportunity the whole way through.
One of the missionary groups that I oversee, Y – Squad, was having a 4 day debrief after 8 months of being on the field. It was time for myself and several other staff members to visit them there and teach, counsel, and help re-ignite their hearts for their final 3 months of service.
So 3 weeks ago, I made the journey there, and stepped foot on soil so monumental.
I couldn’t blog while there, because of the nature of China being a closed country and wanting to use discretion with publicizing my faith. It was pretty surreal when I would try and log on to Facebook, you tube, or other sites, and they were blocked. Imagine?! I was careful to not use Christian lingo in public places. Flying from the Bible belt of America, to a land where there are not churches on every corner. Christ must be known differently.
The reality of China’s history and present state was now my present circumstance.
Here is a quick recap of my time there:
Snowing as we landed and freezing temperatures the whole time
Taxi drivers that don’t really ‘care’ to pick you up
Extreme smog. The metropolis is the biggest widespread city I’ve ever been to
American branding and symbols everywhere, because of the Olympics
Morning and night worship sessions, 50+ voices, rising up for the heavens to hear
Breakthrough for missionaries, healing, reconciliation, rest
Late nights, early mornings, working hard
A visit from a college friend living/working in China
Shopping, cheap prices, bargaining
Climbing the Great Wall – a personal epic moment
An unforgettable experience
I was privileged to walk the soil of China, and share my faith, and sing out loud, because of the men and women who have gone before. Many have been killed, tortured, and beaten for the same faith that I could more easily express. I was sober minded the whole time there.
More blogs, pictures, videos, and stories to come. Overall, a great time!
