Below is a great short story from one of my leaders in Cambodia, Rachel Ridings. Enjoy!

————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Buddism is the main religion in Cambodia. Not many people know Jesus. And when I say not many, I'm talking like less than a few percent. I have had several people on my squad tell me that they talked to someone about God who had never even heard of His name before. There are countless temples eveywhere. People worship statues and even trust in these little 'spirit houses' in their front yard to protect them from evil spirits.

One week I was visiting one of our teams and we were staying in a village. A few of them had been staying for a few weeks already, building relationships with the locals and what not. The morning that I arrived I went for a walk with two of the women. We had no 'specific' agenda but felt the Lord leading us to go and talk with a Buddist monk they had met the previous day.

We showed up at the temple and he invited us in. As we were walking in we exhanged greetings and he communicated how he wasn't feeling so well. He was struggling with a very bad head ache. Although, for the next hour we sat indian style on the ground chatting about life, laughing and talking. He told us all about his family, about being a monk, his religion and how he enjoyed reading. He even showed us several of his books. One of which, was a bible that a previous world race team had given him. He said his favorite was the story of Adam and Eve.

Towards the end of the conversation when it was time to leave we boldly asked if we could pray to our God about making his headache better.

'No!" He exclaimed.

"Just being with you, my stress is down and my headache is gone. I think it is from all the laughing!"

We looked at each other and then back at him with a huge smile on our faces. We told him that we believed our God had healed his headache and that Jesus loved him.

We left so encouraged. God had showed up in a radical way and blew our minds. He healed our friend by His presence, alone. The Kingdom of God is advancing.

"Go to the lost, confused people right there in the neighborhood.

Tell them that the kingdom is here.

Bring health to the sick.

Raise the dead.

Touch the untouchables.

Kick out the demons.

You have been treated generously, so live generously."
