I’ve been reading in Genesis and I am reminded in a fresh
and vibrant way, the power and love of God through his covenants.

FIRST, God makes a Covenant with Noah, after the great
flood, saying “I now establish my covenant…never again will all life be cut off
by the waters of a flood…my rainbow…will be the sign of the covenant between me
and the earth.”  Because of Noah’s
righteousness this covenant was made with Noah.

SECOND, God then makes a covenant with Abraham, because
of his righteousness, “To your descendents I give this land…”

How God fulfills these covenants is amazing.  For Noah’s covenant, look out
the window after a rain, and you can see God talking to us, with creation,
fulfilling his covenant.  For Abraham’s
covenant, see Joshua 1:9; 21:43, 1 King 4:20-21…God fulfilled his covenant.

All of this covenant talk then made me think of MARRIAGE…

God knows the beauty of covenant, he knows the power it
contains.  When a covenant is
fulfilled how satisfying, loving, gracious, and God breathed it is.

THE BEAUTIFUL THING ABOUT OUR GOD IS he always has, is, and
always will keep his covenants.

Covenants for me, us, are hard because knowing that no matter what happens in the future, the
covenant is to be just that, covenanted, kept.  But we are not like God, we cannot keep a covenant faithfully and perfectly
in our lives, sometimes even in marriage, because even though our intention was
beautiful the ‘future’ issues, problems, heartaches, lead towards the breaking
of the past good intentioned promised covenant.

Nevertheless, I think God’s heartbeat is for us to follow His way of doing
covenant.  He declares to me, to
you, that through Him we can do ALL things.  We CAN keep covenants.  The beauty of one man marrying and staying married to one woman, his
beautiful bride, is how it replicates the heart of God.  Covenant is absolutely wonderfully
perfect!

LASTLY, the covenant to follow Jesus, is the greatest
covenant I, we, can make.  I love
God so much that I have made a covenant to Him to follow Him all the days of my
life.  Sharing this covenant with
people in the nations, and that they too can have this covenant is making my
passionate heart beat so fast and furious for this Mission.  I cannot wait to get out there and share God’s perfect love for us with my neighbors of the world.

Grace, is the most beautiful part of my, our, inability to
do covenants as God does them, perfectly.
However, through the cross, God Most High, and the Holy Spirit, I can be
a covenant keeper
.  I desire daily
to fulfill my heart covenant to God that I will serve, obey, and love God
forever.  FOREVER, wow, that is too
hard for me to accomplish on my own, but that is just it, I am not of my
own
.  I am a new creation, I am in
Christ
.  I am a covenant keeper,
even unto death, because I am no longer dead, in this life, or in the life to
come…BELIEF in God is life, now and forever.  I am a covenant keeper!

YOU TOO CAN BE A COVENANT KEEPER, AMEN?

AMEN!!!
